Brit Trip Adventure

Brit Tripping

As of 2019, Brit Tripping is now a perpetual challenge

Follow the Roman Road through England with the intent of reading a book from each of the 45 counties with a few extra trips to London.  There are a two ways to go with your Brit Trip. Try to visit all the Roman Roads in one year or split your travels up and take your time.  Have fun following Rabbit Trails and learning more about each country as you travel. Which ever you choose, pack your bags and kindles and audiobooks and get ready to Brit Trip!

One of the challenges discovered in planning is the counties change frequently and in many places overlap with other counties and then there’s some disagreement on what is and isn’t a county.

General rules:

  • Rereads are allowed.
  • No page number minimum.
  • Follow Mumtotwo on Goodreads to find suggestions and recommended reads for each county. Go to MumtoTwo’s page and click on SETTINGS next to the search box and check the box for RECOMMENDER. Then at the bottom of the beige box click on   CLOSE.
Join a bus:

• The Detectives (Mystery reading)
• The Rebels (Mixed genre reading)

All those who join will earn a rank based on number of counties completed.

And the final level is The Bertram Wooster. That is earned by reading one book set in England of any genre but failing spectacularly at all other challenges. A good attitude must be maintained despite numerous hardships. Employing a Gentleman’s Gentleman is optional but encouraged. Bonus points awarded if you are accidentally engaged multiple times during the year.

    1. Um, have fun. Pick a street and follow it in order of the counties. Or read at random and notate which counties you visit. If you review or want to comment on weekly reads or again at random times, pop on the current week's post which is like Grand Central Station. Where we converge to link or chat about reads.

    1. Look for stories set in towns in Huntingdonshire - Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives. or St Neots. There are quite a few in St. Ives. It's also a district of Cambridgeshire so that counts. :)
